2026 GASCA International Music Competition | Hong Kong Preliminary Round

The preliminary rounds of the 2026 GASCA International Music Competition in Hong Kong will be held on two separate dates and at two separate venues, covering live competitions in categories such as piano, strings, wind instruments, percussion and vocals.
Participants can choose a suitable session to participate in the competition according to their group and schedule.

Competition Awards

The champion (one from each group) will be awarded a certificate and a trophy to the participant with the highest score.
The runner-up (one in each group) will be awarded a certificate and a trophy to the participant with the second-highest score in that group.
Third Place (one in each group): Awarded to the participant with the third highest score in the corresponding category, who will receive a certificate and a trophy.
Honorable Mention: The top 40% of participants will receive a certificate and a medal.
Award of Excellence: The next 30% of participants will receive a certificate and a medal.
If the judges believe that the contestants in this group have not reached the award-winning level, no award ranking and prizes for that ranking will be awarded.

Eligibility and Rules for Entering the Finals

Qualifications for advancement:
Participants who score 80 points or above in the preliminary round will be awarded the "Advancement Award" and will qualify to represent their region in the international finals in Bangkok, Thailand or Tokyo, Japan.

Awards of Excellence:
Participants who score 79 points or below will be awarded an "Outstanding Award" along with a certificate and medal, but will not be eligible to advance to the international finals.

*The number of places in the final is limited. Participants must first obtain the qualifications and then register on a first-come-first-served basis; once the payment is confirmed, successfully admitted participants will be notified by email.

Awards ceremony:

The awards ceremony will be held at the competition venue on the day following the conclusion of each match.The registration fee includes a certificate and medal. Please note that the medal will be awarded on-site.will notThe winner's name is printed on it.Participants who are unable to attend the awards ceremony in person may apply to have their certificates and medals mailed to a designated address after the competition. The postage will be charged separately according to local postal rates.The association also offers trophy upgrade and customization services. Winners who wish to apply for a personalized trophy with their name printed on it can do so through the official website after the event.Please note that trophy upgrade service is an additional charge and is not included in the registration fee. Postage will also be charged separately. The production time for a custom trophy is approximately 2 to 3 months. If you cannot accept the waiting time, it is recommended that you do not apply for this service.

  • There are no specific dress requirements for participants; they may choose appropriate formal or performance attire to participate in the competition.
  • Participants may use the same or different performance pieces in the preliminary and final rounds.
  • The performance must not contain any vulgar, offensive or inappropriate musical expressions or themes.
  • Contestants are not allowed to use any form of cue cards or auxiliary prompts during their performances to ensure the fairness of the competition.
  • If the performance exceeds the designated time limit, the performance will be stopped by a notice on site, and the participants must end their performance immediately.
  • After the performance, participants must leave from the side of the stage as instructed and should not linger backstage or in the lobby area.
  • During the GASCA International Music Competition, all video and audio content related to performances, judging, events, and related recordings shall be subject to the ownership of the organizers for recording, distribution, and use.
  • During the competition, the organizer may use videos of related performances or events for public release or promotional purposes without prior notice.
  • No recording, audio recording, or photography of any kind is permitted at the competition venue without the written permission of the organizer.
  • The competition date and schedule are determined by the organizer and may be adjusted according to actual circumstances.
  • If necessary, the latest arrangements and cancellation notices will be announced on the official website or via email.
  • There are no parking spaces available at the venue, and participants are advised to use public transportation.
  • Preschool children are not allowed to enter the competition venue. If the behavior of participants or spectators (such as crying or making noise) affects the competition, the organizer has the right to ask them to leave the venue.
  • All transportation, accommodation and related expenses are to be borne by the participants themselves.
  • Once registered, all fees are non-refundable.

International Music Competition Outstanding Teacher Award - The mentors of the top three winners in each group will receive a certificate and a trophy.
International Music Competition - Silver Award for Nurturing Talents: HK$500 cash prize, awarded to the mentor who invites five or more students.
International Music Competition - Gold Award for Nurturing Talents: HK$1000 cash prize, awarded to the mentor who invites ten or more students.
International Music Competition - Education Grand Prize: Schools/educational centers that invite ten or more students to participate in each category will receive one certificate and one trophy.
Participation Award: All participants will receive an electronic participation certificate

The final entry fee includes a certificate, trophy/banner. Please note that trophies and banners awarded at the awards ceremony will not have the winner's name printed on them.

The Association offers a trophy upgrade service. Winners who wish to have their trophies printed with their own names can apply for this upgrade on the official website after the competition. Please note that custom trophies are an additional service and are not included in the registration fee. Shipping costs will be charged separately based on local postal rates. The production time for the trophy upgrade service is 2-3 months. If you cannot wait, the Association does not recommend applying for a custom trophy.
